MODEL CARS • TIPS & TRICKS / How to apply decals, polishing

  After longer time again adds another section / instructions how to build a model. As mentioned in the previous post, this will present decal (sticker)pasting,  painting with clear and polishing.

For the decal application we will  need a scalpel or scissors, tweezers, cotton buds and a container with water. I use a knife because it is multifunction in this process or operation. From the decal sheet choice what you need and cut the decal. Using tweezers dip them in a container with water about 10 to 15 seconds. Then wait a moment and try to move the decal with your finger or a scalpel. In this step, be careful to tear decal, because they are very fine and thin. If the decal will be easy to move, you can take it from the sheet. I using a scalpel. On the place where the decal should be fixed, apply by finger a little water to easily applying process. After applying the decal to placeI setup it by scalpel or a finger to the correct position and press it with a cotton swab. The bar "drinks" water and decalwill be better sticked to the base (model) . If  happen that is not possible stick decal right after You unstick it from sheet, take care to remain still wet when it dries is easily twisted and torn. Similarly, during application and contact pressure on the model be careful to not scratch the paint by scalpel or torn decal. I know that there are various of waters for decals but I have no experience with them becauseI never use them and I think that thein cause with smaller decal they are not needed.

If you have applied all the decals (stickers), we can start spreading clear paint. For painting I using acrylic gloss clear spray. Method of application of clear is the same as for spraying paint. This procedure is described in the paper 4 How to paint, color shades. Let dry painted model, properly cured clear paint, I leave it dry for a week.

Polishing is about time-consuming stage of the model building process, but if its managed well result is perfect. For polishing using sandpaper 2000 and 2500, median polishing paste and a final polishing paste from KPM BA, cotton cloth and toothpaste whitenning is best. The procedure is as follows, underwater sand model with sandpaper thickness of 2000 and the 2500. Take care to grind the edges to the paint, or to the plastic. Model remains mat after sanding, do not worry, it's a normal thing. It is important make paint mat during grinding. than  is easily noticeable where the paint is well grinded and even where to grind. This whole process must be "wet" or the constant presence of water. This is probably the hardest and longest part of the polishing. Then wipe it, apply toothpaste and with a cloth really "polish it". Model wash under water again and let it dry or wipe. Now apply a medium polishing paste and re-polish it using a cloth. Finally, apply a final polishing paste and then polish it using a cloth, then turn cloth to the dry side and polish, after this steps is polishing done. If after polishing remained still some trace of the preparations, pasteon model just wash it with water and wipe.

  Po dlhšej dobe opäť pridávam ďalšiu časť / návod ako stavať model.  Ako už bolo spomenuté v tom predošlom príspevku, tento sa bude tykať nanášania decalov (nálepiek) lakovania a leštenia.  
Na nanášanie decalov potrebujeme nožnice alebo skalpel, pinzetu, vatovú tyčinku a nádobku s vodou. Ja používam skalpel lebo je pri tejto operácii viacúčelový. Z hárku s decalmi si vyrežem môžete ich aj vystrihnúť potrebne decaly. Pomocou pinzety ich namočím do nádobky s vodou asi na 10 – 15 sekúnd. Potom chvíľku počkajte a skúste decal posunúť prstom alebo skalpelom. Pri tomto kroku buďte opatrný aby ste decal neroztrhli, nakolko su velmi jemne a tenké. Ak sa bude dať decal ľahko posunúť  môžete ho  zobrať z podkladu. Ja nato používam skalpel. Na miesto kde má byť decal nalepený naneste prstom trocha vody aby sa decal ľahšie nanášal.  Po priložení decalu na miesto ho pomocou či už prstu alebo skalpelu umiestnite do správnej pozície a pritlačte ho vatovou tyčinkou. Tyčinka vypije vodu a decal sa lepšie prilepí na podklad (model). Ak by sa Vám stalo, že nemôžete decal nalepiť hneď ako ho odlepíte z podkladu dajte pozor aby zostal stále navlhčený , keď uschne skrúti sa a ľahko potrhá. Rovnako počas nanášania  a pritláčania na model buďte opatrný aby ste skalpelom nepoškriabali lak alebo neroztrhli decal. Viem, že existujú rôzne vodičky na decaly no nemám s nimi žiadne skúsenosti lebo ich nepoužívam a myslím si že pri decaloch menších rozmerov ich ani nie je treba.
Keď máte nanesené všetky decaly (nálepky) môžeme začať s nanášaním laku. Na lakovanie používam acrylový lesklý lak. v spreji. Postup pri aplikacii  laku je rovnaký ako pri sprejovaní farby.  Tento postup je opísaný v príspevku 4 How to paint , colour shades.  Nalakovaný model nechajte dobre vyschnúť, aby  lak poriadne vytvrdol, ja nechávam lak schnúť aj týždeň.
Leštenie je asi časovo najnáročnejšia etapa stavania modelu, ale  ak je dobre zvládnuté výsledok stojí zato. Na leštenie používam brúsny papier 2000 a 2500, strednú leštiacu pastu a finálnu leštiacu pastu od KPM BA, bavlnenú handričku a zubnú pastu najlepšie Whitenning. Postup je nasledovný, pod vodou obrúsim model s brúsnym papierom hrúbky 2000 a 2500. Treba dať pozor na brúsenie hrán aby ste neprebrúsili lak, farbu až na plast. Model zostane po brúsení matný, toho sa nebojte to je normálna vec. Je dôležité povrch zbaviť lesku, počas brúsenia je ľahko badateľné kde je lak zbrúsený dostatočne a kde treba ešte brúsiť. Celý tento proces musí byť „mokrý“ čiže za stálej prítomnosti vody. Toto je asi najťažšia a najdlhšia časť leštenia.  Model potom utrite do sucha naneste zubnú pastu a pomocou handričky poriadne „preleštite“. Model umyte pod vodou a znova osušte.  Teraz naneste strednú leštiacu pastu a opäť pomocou handričky  preleštite model. Nakoniec naneste  finálnu leštiacu pastu a  znova preleštite handričkou, potom model poriadne rozlúštite suchou stranou handričky  a tým je leštenie hotové. Ak by Vám po leštení v špárach zostala ešte nejaká stopa po prípravkoch, pastách stačí model umyť vo vode a poutierať.
